Waste paper collection at school
‘Did you know that if you recycle 60 kilograms of waste paper, you save one tree from being cut down?’, our 10th grade IB student Kyrylo Atamanyuk addressed this question to AISU students.
The school started a large-scale ecological campaign called ‘Collect Waste Paper – Save the Planet’ due to Kyryl’s initiative.
Everyone involved in educational process, from a kindergartener to school staff, is engaged in collecting waste paper.
This week we already gathered the current data on how much paper we have collected:
Kyrylo’s class were in first place, having collected over 150 kilograms of waste paper;
1-A class are in the second place with the result of more than 80 kilograms;
4-C class are in the third place, having collected 59 kilograms of waste paper. By the way, Kyrylo’s younger brother studies in this class.
As a matter of fact, there are even two motivating factors for AISU students to participate in the campaign. The thing is, we will hand the collected paper over to ‘Green Planet Eco’ company. The money that we earn will be spent on tennis tables, board games, and sports equipment. It will create an opportunity for students to be in charge of money and appreciate the goods we buy.
We are proud to have such proactive and conscientious students like Kyrylo.
We invite everyone to participate in the collecting waste paper campaign, which will last till the 1st of March.
Waste paper collection
The question expressed by the students of the school seemed simple, but at the same time it impresses with the depth of the environmental impact of our consumer society. AISU teachers and students set out to implement the idea of collecting waste paper as a significant contribution to the rescue of forests and nature.
One Tree for 60 kilograms of waste paper. Scientists report that about 17 trees need to be cut down to produce one ton of paper. And this is where the initiative of Kirill and his schoolmates comes on the scene. If you imagine that on average one tree weighs about 600 kilograms, then 60 kilograms of waste paper can replace the whole tree. This astounding number becomes a key point in understanding how everyone’s small efforts can have a huge impact on protecting the environment.
Collecting waste paper-saving the planet. The initiative of students did not go unnoticed in the school environment. Together with the students, a team was created that organizes and conducts the campaign “collecting waste paper-saving the planet”. Each class received its own waste paper box, and the most active participants will receive commendations and awards.
An important aspect of the campaign is not only the collection of waste paper, but also the education of environmental awareness among students. Not only do they learn how to collect paper, but they also know why it’s important. Environmental education is becoming necessary in the modern world, and this action is only one of the ways to form a responsible attitude to nature.
Every kilogram of waste paper collected is not just a preserved tree. It contributes to biodiversity conservation, reducing carbon emissions, and improving air quality. Everyone’s small actions can have huge implications for the global ecosystem.
The students ‘ initiative was an important step in the development of environmental awareness among the younger generation. Waste paper collection has become not only a practical contribution to nature conservation, but also an activator of positive changes in the community. Step by step, each of us can become an agent of change to save our planet. By working together, we can create a future where nature and people exist in harmony.
Waste paper collection at AISU school
AISU school has become an arena for a big change, thanks to the initiative of AISU school students to collect waste paper. This environmental campaign not only mobilized students and teachers, but also served as an example of how small efforts can lead to huge positive changes for people and nature. Let’s look at them:
- Forest Conservation and biodiversity.according to scientists, approximately 17 trees need to be cut down to produce a ton of paper. Waste paper collection helps avoid this forest degradation and preserve biodiversity.
- Reduce CO2 emissions. paper production from trees requires high energy costs. Waste paper collection helps reduce CO2 emissions, which helps maintain air quality and climate stability.
- Saving water resources. paper production requires a large amount of water. Recycling waste paper requires less water, which contributes to the efficient use of this limited resource.
- Education of ecological consciousness among students. the waste paper collection campaign not only saves nature, but also educates the student generation, forming their environmental consciousness and responsibility.
- Creating an ecological atmosphere in the school. waste paper boxes placed around the school create an atmosphere of environmental care and involve students in a common cause.
- Spreading an example to other schools and communities. the AISU initiative can set an example for other educational institutions and communities by encouraging them to also participate in waste paper collection.
- Stimulating creativity and invention. students can participate in competitions for the best waste paper use project, helping to stimulate their creativity and innovation.
- Forming a community with a sense of belonging. waste paper collection brought students and teachers together in a common cause, creating a community with a sense of belonging and responsibility for the environment.
- Development of the recycling economy. waste paper not only reduces the need for primary raw materials, but also promotes the development of the recycling industry, which creates new jobs and supports the economy.
- Reduce garbage loading at local landfills. waste paper collection helps reduce the amount of garbage that ends up in landfills, reducing environmental pressure and the risk of soil and water pollution.
- Public engagement and support from local authorities. the waste paper collection initiative can participate in educational campaigns and receive support from local authorities, increasing public participation in an important environmental issue.
- Introduction of the concept of “Zero Waste” in the school environment. waste paper collection promotes awareness of the principles of “Zero Waste” in the school environment, encouraging efficient use of resources and avoiding excessive waste production.
- Rewards and rewards for active participants. the system of rewards and incentives for active participation in waste paper collection encourages students to participate more actively and expand the initiative.
- Education on the benefits of secondary use. project participants not only collect waste paper, but also receive education about the importance of recycling and its impact on the conservation of resources and nature.
- Interaction with local businesses. the school initiative can help establish partnerships with local businesses that specialize in recycling, contributing to the development of this area.
Waste paper collection at AISU school is becoming not only a method of tree rescue and environmental protection, but also a component of an important social and economic process. These examples point to the broad impact of such initiatives on various areas of our lives, demonstrating that waste paper collection is not just an action, but also an important step towards creating a sustainable and responsible society.
What is the use of waste paper collection? And the human qualities that we cultivate in ourselves.
Above, we have already discussed how waste paper collection affects nature and the social environment, but it is time to consider other equally important advantages of this environmental measure. In addition to saving trees and helping the ecosystem, collecting waste paper helps develop qualities in us that will be important in later life.
1. Responsibility. waste paper collection requires us to be responsible for our environment. The more waste paper we collect, the more we take responsibility for the state of the environment.
2. Collaboration and team spirit. teamwork on waste paper collection teaches us to collaborate, exchange ideas, and develop team spirit. We learn to achieve a common goal by joining forces.
3. Tolerance and perception of diversity. waste paper can bring together people from different social and cultural backgrounds. We learn to respect diversity and take other perspectives into account.
4.Initiative. taking the initiative to collect waste paper develops our leadership skills and drive change. We become initiators of positive changes in our environment.
5. Empathy. collecting waste paper teaches us to perceive and understand the needs of others. We feel empathy for nature and people, creating a healthy ecological and social balance.
6. Systems Thinking. working on a waste paper collection project, we learn to look at problems systematically and influence them comprehensively, instead of fast-moving solutions.
7. Stress tolerance. the implementation of a waste paper collection project can be difficult, but it educates us with stress tolerance and the ability to find solutions in unfavorable conditions.
8. Self-Improvement. the process of collecting waste paper is not only about helping nature, but also about constantly developing your own personality. We are becoming more conscious, efficient and responsible citizens.
Thus, waste paper collection at the AISU school turns into a true training for the formation of high civic and environmental qualities. This initiative not only saves trees, but also helps us grow as responsible and conscious members of society.
Waste paper collection project at AISU school
The waste paper collection project at AISU school not only gives a second life to paper products and saves forests, but also actively educates students with a strong personality and forms key civic qualities. The above examples indicate that waste paper collection is not only an environmental initiative, but also a real path to self-improvement and leadership.
We not only save trees and reduce the impact of our production on nature, but also cultivate valuable qualities. Responsibility, cooperation, tolerance, initiative, empathy, systems thinking, stress tolerance and constant self-improvement are just a few aspects that we cultivate when collecting waste paper.
Waste paper collection at AISU school is not only a means to achieve a specific goal, but also a tool that forms a new generation of citizens who are ready to accept the challenges of environmental and social responsibility. This initiative is evidence that every small action can lead to big and positive changes-not only for our planet, but also for us, as individuals learning to live in harmony with the world around us.
