24.02.2026 – Anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine
February 24, 2026 marks four years since the beginning of Russia’s full – scale invasion of Ukraine-an event that changed the course of modern European history. 24.02.2022 was a date that was forever etched in the memory of Ukrainians and the whole world. This day was a point of no return, a moment of truth, when the Ukrainian people demonstrated invincibility, unity and dignity in the face of large-scale aggression.
The full-scale invasion launched by Vladimir Putin was a continuation of the war that has been going on since 2014. At the same time, on February 24, 2022, the world saw a new reality: rockets at peaceful cities, convoys of equipment, millions of refugees – and at the same time the heroism of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, volunteers and ordinary citizens.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in the first hours of the invasion addressed the people with words that became a symbol of resilience. Ukraine has survived, United international support and continues to fight for freedom and independence.
Match or not? Is the magic number of War 68 or fake?
The history of World Wars has its own tragic dates:
- The beginning of the first World War – 28.07.1914
- The beginning of the Second World War-01.09.1939
- The beginning of a full-scale war in Ukraine-24.02.2022
Let’s try to consider an interesting numerological detail. If we add up all the two-digit numbers in the dates of the beginning of these wars (day + month + the last two digits of the year), we get:
The First World War (28.07.1914)
28 + 07 + 14 + 19 = 68
World War II (01.09.1939)
01 + 09 + 19 + 39 = 68
War in Ukraine (24.02.2022)
24 + 02 + 20 + 22 = 68
The number 68 is repeated in all three cases.
Coincidence or pattern?
From a mathematical point of view, this can be estimated approximately. If we consider the sum of four two-digit numbers (day, month, and two parts of the year) as a random variable, then its possible values lie in a certain range (approximately from 20 to 170). If we assume that all the totals in this range are approximately equally probable (which is a simplification in itself), then the probability of getting one specific number – for example, 68 – is about 1 in 150, that is, about 0.7%.
The probability that three different independent dates will give the same sum of 68 can be estimated as the product of these probabilities:
0,007 × 0,007 × 0,007 ≈ 0,00000034
That is approximately 0.000034% – or about 1 chance in 3 million.
However, it is important to understand that this is only a conditional model. In fact, the dates of historical events are not random numbers, and the method of counting (dividing the year into two parts and choosing this method of addition) was chosen arbitrarily by us. If you change the calculation method, the result may be different. Therefore, even with an interesting mathematical assessment, this is more of a spectacular numerical parallel than proof of the existence of the “magic number of war”.
However, the very fact of repeating the number 68 makes us think about the cyclical nature of history, about how humanity again and again faces the test of war or another option for planning a war in advance.
Historical context of World Wars:
The First World War began on July 28, 1914, after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. It covered most European countries and became one of the bloodiest events of the early twentieth century.
World War II began on September 1, 1939 with the attack of Nazi Germany on Poland. It became the largest and most tragic conflict in the history of mankind.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine, launched on February 24, 2022, was the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II. Ukraine has become an outpost of freedom and democratic values.
Strength of unity and international support
The world did not stand aside. European countries, the United States, Canada, Japan and dozens of other countries have provided Ukraine with military, humanitarian and financial assistance. Millions of people around the world took part in solidarity actions with the Ukrainian people.
At the same time, Ukrainians have demonstrated an example of incredible resilience: the volunteer movement, support for the army, and mutual assistance between citizens have become a symbol of the new Ukraine.
It is especially important that the younger generation does not stand aside. AISU students are actively involved in supporting Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. They organize charity events, information campaigns, humanitarian aid collections, participate in volunteer initiatives and international solidarity projects.
Young people understand that the future of Ukraine depends on today’s decisions and actions. And it is consciousness, education and an active civic position that form a new generation of Ukrainians.
24.02.2026 is not just a date. This is a day of remembrance for the dead, a day of gratitude to soldiers and volunteers, a day of faith in victory and peace.
History shows that wars have a beginning, but they always have an end. Ukraine continues its path of struggle for freedom, independence and the right to be part of a democratic world.
The number 68 can only be a symbolic match. But the invincibility of the Ukrainian people is not a coincidence. This is a conscious choice.
Students 7A and 7C celebrate anniversary of full-scale invasion of Ukraine
The anniversary of the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine is not just a date in the calendar. This is a day of remembrance, gratitude and deep awareness of how important Unity, support and faith in one’s own country are. It was with this mood that AISU students of grades 7A and 7C joined the celebration of this event.
February 24, 2022 was a test for the whole of Ukraine. However, at the same time, this day showed the world the strength of the Ukrainian people – the courage of the military, the self-sacrifice of volunteers, the mutual assistance of ordinary citizens.
Students 7A and 7C did not stay away from this important date. They organized a thematic event dedicated to supporting Ukraine, its defenders and all the people affected by the war.
During the event, students discussed the meaning of citizenship, watched information materials about the events of the first days of the invasion, read poems and expressed their own thoughts about what the word “unity”means to them.
Special attention was paid to those who defend the country today, as well as to volunteers and doctors who save lives every day. Students noted that even at a young age, you can take important steps – support information, participate in charity initiatives, and help those who need it.
Seventh graders prepared a common wall of unity, where everyone wrote words of support for Ukrainians. Blue and yellow ribbons, drawings of peace, symbols of freedom became a visual manifestation of sincere solidarity.
Such events form not only patriotic consciousness, but also humanity, compassion and responsibility for the future.
Students of AISU schools 7A and 7C demonstrated that the younger generation is aware of the significance of historical events and is ready to be part of the common struggle for peace. They understand that unity begins with small steps-out of respect, support and concern.
Today, Ukrainians around the world are united by a common goal – to protect their country and preserve freedom. And the fact that students join this unity shows maturity and a deep understanding of the importance of the moment.
Unity is our strength! The anniversary of a full – scale invasion is a reminder of pain, loss, and invincibility at the same time. Students of AISU school 7A and 7C proved that memory lives in the hearts of the younger generation, and support for Ukraine is not only words, but concrete actions.
The unity of Ukrainians is a force that helps to survive. And it is with such young people that the future of a strong, free and independent Ukraine begins.
